World Cup 2014 Columbia vs. Uruguay Betting OddsJosh Bailey
Uruguay and Columbia will meet in the knockout stages of the 2014 World Cup on Saturday afternoon with Columbia as 1/2 goal favorites over the toothless Uruguayan team.
Colombia absolutely dominated their Group C competition by beating Greece 3-0 in its World Cup opener before taking out Ivory Coast 2-1 and routing Japan 4-1 the last time out.
Uruguay vs. Colombia World Cup Betting Odds
Line: Uruguay (+½ -105) vs. Colombia (- ½ -115)
Over/Under Total: 1
Striker James Rodriguez has taken center stage for Colombia this World Cup by scoring three goals while fellow forward Jackson Martinez has added two goals.
Colombia will take on a Uruguay team that won two of its three Group D matches but will be without superstar striker Luis Suarez for the remainder of the World Cup after the enigmatic forward as suspended for biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini in his team’s 1-0 win on Tuesday.
Uruguay lost to Costa Rica 3-1 in its World Cup opener before narrowly escaping England 2-1 just prior to their win over Italy.
Suarez, who single-handedly sunk England with two goals, will be out and Uruguay’s offense will undoubtedly suffer as this team has scored – and allowed – four goals in three matches.
Uruguay will look to veteran forward Edinson Cavani, but outside of his penalty goal against Costa Rica, has not looked particularly commanding.
My Pick: With Suarez out, this all-South American showdown in the Round of 16 looks more like a lock for Colombia than anything else. I like the Colombians, who are +7 in scoring, to win this one by two goals at the very least!
